° 42.46' N 77° 8.28' W 23 Mar 2018 02:50 None None None Weather is warm, clear, and 20+ knots downwind as forecast. Just put in 2nd reef to slow us down so we arrive in the daylight on Monday morning....I may regret slowing us down but it is supposed to keep blowing. We are beginning to get into our familiar passage routines but no one ever gets happy with losing a full night's sleep. We're surviving and eating quite well with the several Jamaican jerk meals we brought with us.
° 47.05' N 76° 12.5' W 22 Mar 2018 02:50 None None None Enjoyed our stay in Port Antonio. This part of Jamaica has much to recommend a visit. Very friendly people, beautiful mountain interior, very few tourists, and quite a good marina. The only draw back is that prices are definitely not the bargain of Southeast Asia. We would definitely come back and do more exploring. We are underway for Colon. Should be about a 4 day passage. We have just motored through an expected series of rain squalls and the wind is now predicted to begin to build to 20+ downwind in fair weather all the way to Panama, Fingers crossed.
° 10.844' N 76° 27.192' W 19 Mar 2018 13:27 None None None Arrived in Port Antonio, Jamaica first thing this morning. A beautiful little harbor with very tall mountains in the background. Quite a spectacular backdrop. Have just done check in with all the usual officials. All very pleasant.A few backpacker types but virtually no tourists. Harbor now too small for today's huge cruise ships. A Club Med 5 masted cruise ship left today after a 1 day stay. Unless we find something untoward as we walk about town and during our land tour Wednesday, this appears to be a hidden gem, including the Errol Flynn Marina at $.95 per foot.
° 24.16' N 74° 57.99' W 18 Mar 2018 09:50 None None None Through the Windward Passage last night about midnight. We sailed inside the shipping lanes so we were about 4-5 miles off the coast of Cuba. Wind is dead downwind this morning about 12 knots so we're moving slowly wing on wing. Beautiful day today, warm, sunny, and blue sky. Last night was clear with many stars and no moon. We've pretty much decided to stop at Port Antonio, Jamaica. Amy found a courtesy flag for Jamaica so that sealed the deal.
° 56.54' N 73° 41.4' W 17 Mar 2018 14:30 None None None Underway for Jamaica/Panama. Friends have raved about Port Antonio on the north east tip of Jamaica. We may stop on the way. Had a very pleasant time in Great Inagua. Major changes with the Government Dock have created a very nice stopping point, although still badly exposed to the west. The dockmaster, George, is also the local radio DJ and a classic Bahamian. I really enjoyed wiring and installing his VHF and external antennae and then showing him how to use it. He was a happy man.
