23° 51.23' N 75° 7.25' W 06 May 2019 09:30 None None None Conception Island, Bahamas. Beautiful blue sky day with 15-20 knots on a close reach. A nice sail from Callabash Bay, Long Island to close out our Bahamian winter. Still planning on leaving from here for Bermuda on Thursday if the current forecast holds. Will do final passage prep for the next couple days, e.g., clean bottom, cook, and usual passage check list.
23° 39.186' N 75° 20.212' W 05 May 2019 19:04 None None None Calabash Bay, Long Island, Bahamas. Spent the last week or so at Thompson's Bay again. Had hoped to leave from there for Bermuda but on the planned day of departure the weather forecast called for very strong winds from the NE, wrong direction, for the last day before arrival. We decided to play it safe and delay our departure. We now plan to head out to Conception Island which we really enjoy and will wait there for another good forecast for the Bermuda trip. Had a great downwind sail getting from Thompson's Bay.
23° 30.786' N 75° 44.635' W 11 Apr 2019 13:18 None None None Georgetown, Bahamas. Back at Sand Dollar Beach. Amy leaves today at Noon for the States to visit with family. I'll hopefully get all my projects done for the upcoming Bermuda/Azores passages.
23° 21.317' N 75° 8.327' W 04 Apr 2019 19:37 None None None Thompson's Bay, Long Island. Wonderful day of sailing from Conception. Downwind for 15 miles then 20 miles of reaching. Winds were stronger than forecast, 20-25 knots so we were flying. Good practice for us. Will get fuel here for our Bermuda passage and also groceries for the next couple weeks while Amy is home. She leaves next week. Saw Freya, another PS40, on AIS and made plans to get together to talk about his trip two years ago to Bermuda/Azores/Med.
23° 51.176' N 75° 7.352' W 03 Apr 2019 19:45 None None None Conception Island,Bahamas.Last night was very rolly at Port Howe with no wind and swells coming over the reef. Checked out the reef after breakfast. At one time the reef was very pretty with a lot of structure. Now not much remains alive. A few fish and some soft coral. Still very light wind so we motor sailed over to Conception after our dive. Conception is always pretty but we are not alone. About 12 - 15 boats enjoying the beauty.
